Research
Based on years of experience conducting desk and field research, we understand the imperatives of peace, security and development in Africa. We offer qualitative research support, report writing, and copyediting services to clients across the peace and security spectrum. Past projects have included comprehensive research reports on as well as case studies of regional conflict vulnerability and fragility assessments, economic and social resilience, climate change and conflict mitigation, inclusive governance in conflict-affected and fragile contexts, mediation and peacebuilding interventions and other topics related to women, peace, and security.
Programme and project design, monitoring and evaluation
We draw on our extensive experience in the peace, security, and development sectors to provide programme design, monitoring and evaluation, as well as assistance to clients in developing monitoring, evaluation and accountability systems within their project cycles. Our program design philosophy places a premium on conflict sensitivity as well as local and community-driven approaches. Our focus includes:
- Systemic peacebuilding, comprehensive prevention, and early warning
- Strategic Conflict Analysis (SCA), Fragility and Vulnerability Assessments, Humanitarian Assessments (HA) as well as Political Economic Analysis (PEA)
- Elections and Democratic Governance.
- Design and Operationalisation of Infrastructures for Peace (I4P)
- Design and Operationalisation of Reconciliation, Social cohesion and stabilisation Initiatives
- Mediation Support Processes and support to poltical transitions
- Review of implementation of regional, governance, peace and security frameworks
Strategic planning and organisational learning
We offer our clients facilitation and advisory services for evaluating individual programmes and organizational long-term planning. Prior projects include evaluating regional peace and security programmes and developing five-year strategic plans.
Training
Using our in-person training facilitation and curriculum development services, we develop customized, context-specific trainings for our clients. Our training methodology is based on adult learning and interactive techniques. Previous training programmes have included resilience-based programming in fragile contexts, gender mainstreaming, and inclusive mediation.
Facilitation
From strategic planning to team building, we assist our clients in fostering individual and organizational learning and development, innovation, and consensus building. These services range from short-term (sessions lasting a few days) to long-term (multiple sessions spanning months) engagements. We also provide simulation and experiential learning facilitation services.
